Curriculum Update

Language

This term, the children will focus on developing skills and strategies they can use in Active Literacy which combines spelling, phonics, reading and writing. We have also made a fantastic start on imaginative writing where children are focussing on incorporating VCOP to make their writing come to life!

Maths 
We have started learning about place value where children are investigating how whole numbers are constructed and using knowledge to explain the link between a digit, place and its value. Primary 3 have also made a start on time where they have been learning the days of the week, months of the year and how to use a calendar before moving onto telling the time using 12 and 24 hour clocks.

Our topic this term is The Rainforest! Children will be learning about animals, habitats, food and locations of the Rainforest through a variety of topic based art and drama lessons.

Additional Information (P.E, Eco, Health etc)

PE is on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons – shorts, polo-shirt and gym shoes are essential.
ICT is on Tuesday mornings and Thursday afternoons.
We will also be focusing on a short ‘Growth Mindset’ topic which will promote a positive mindset to bring to a variety of situations within and outwith school!
