Curriculum Update

Language

We are continuing to work on our spelling and phonics programme to help us become better spellers and readers. We have been using various active spelling strategies both in class and at home to develop our spelling.
We will be developing our reading skills through the Big Cat reading scheme, Bloom’s questioning and reciprocal reading strategies.
We will also explore poetry and rhyming this term and hope to create some poetry of our own.

We are learning about time this term and how we use it in everyday life. We are looking forward to measuring time duration using different timers.
We will also be exploring money and hope to use this knowledge in our role play area to buy and sell at our seaside shop.

Topic (activities planned, school trips ect.)
This term we are joining up forces with primary 1 and 2 for our topic learning. We are using the story of The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch to explore all things seaside. We are hoping to do this with a technology focus and look forward to learning about things in and around the sea.

Additional Information (P.E, Eco, Health etc)

We will explore the ‘Responsible’ indicator as part of health and wellbeing and hope to link this in with our topic as we learn about sustainable fishing in Scotland.
In P.E. we will be practising our techniques in areas of athletics in preparation for our sports day. P.E days are Wednesday and Thursday. Please ensure your child has P.E. kit.
